Competition Models
Texas will implement a hybrid competition model during the 2015-2016 season and will gradually phase in the League only structure over the course of several seasons. The hybrid model will consist of new or existing local Qualifiers and League play. Local Qualifiers and League Championship events will advance teams to the assigned Texas FTC Championship. It is anticipated that full implementation of league play will occur during the 2017-2018 season.
For 2015-2016, a team can register to take part in either League Play OR 2 Qualifier events, but not both. A school or organization with multiple teams can elect to have some of their teams participate in League Play and some in traditional Qualifiers. You can register all your teams at the same time by selecting the number of teams you have competing in each tournament type under "Quantity".
League Play Description: Teams compete in smaller, more frequent competitions to gain points that will advance them to the next level tournament play. League Meets provide each team with a minimum of 5 matches each in addition to at least one practice match. Teams will carry forward 15 of their best match scores into the league championship where a final round of 5 qualifying matches will be played. Leagues must hold a minimum of 3 League Meets but are encouraged to host the maximum of 4 meets such that teams are afforded options associated with competing in 3 meets that avoid schedule conflicts in order to achieve their 15 meet match ranking to carry into the League Championship.
